HCS Extended Day Program

To address the growing emphasis on extending learning time in our school district as well as to offer students a variety of cultural and recreational experiences they would otherwise not have access to, the Hubbardston Center School will pilot an extended day program for Fall 2007.

This program will offer up to 25 students enrolled at the Center School an opportunity to extend their time at HCS both before and after school in a safe, supportive, educational environment. Staffed by professional staff members and two assistants the enrichment program will focus on the following:

• Offering extended day hours in the morning where students can enjoy small group activities while getting ready for their day.
• Give students up to grade 6 access to a structured learning environment which would emphasize reading, small group activities, project based learning and social/ character building skills.
• Offering all students enrolled at HCS opportunities to attend (at an additional cost) the HCS Homework Clubs and other scheduled after school enrichment programs developed by the Enrichment staff (i.e. piano lessons, languages, art projects).

This program will be self-funded. No FOHE or HCS funding will be used to subsidize it.
Hours:
Monday through Friday 6:30-8:15 am and 2:45 to 6:00 pm.
Students can enroll in either the morning or the afternoon or both.

The fee per child, per week will be $20.00 for the morning care and $50.00 for the afternoon program per week, with some limited financial aide available. Services will be available both before and after school. Program will run on half-days and early dismissal days. On days where school is let out early due to weather or other issues, the program will run until 4:00 only. At this time, services are not planned for snow days or school vacations, but may be expanded to include these in the future. In the event that more than twenty-five applications are received, a lottery will be established to choose participants.

If you are interested in receiving an application, please send a note to the school with parent contact information, along with the names and ages of your children and a more detailed application will be sent out at that time.
